Abstract
In our study we demonstrated that adding the dimension of
perfusion imaging using a combined approach of transrectal SE
and CEUS resulted in a significant decrease in false-positive
results and improved the positive predictive value of correctly identifying histopathological cancer, but, the cost of the imaging, the increase in the time and in the complexity of the diagnostic process, did not support the availment of this method, especially if compared with the our detection rate with standard TRUS guided biopsy.
