Abstract

Metal nanoparticles have recently attracted a considerable interest due to their ability to strongly enhance electromagnetic fields at multiple frequencies within engineered optical chips for nanoplasmonics applications. In this work several numerical methods have been investigated in order to model plasmonic nanoparticles cluster. These techniques have been indeed used to analyze periodic and aperiodic plasmonic nanostructures made up by spherical and non spherical particles. Eventually several optimization tools have been used to maximize near field properties of photonic-plasmonic nanostructures.
