Abstract
In the emerging context of circular bioeconomy, industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) biomass residues such as hurds, leaves and inflorescences, constituting most of the hemp plant biomass and often considered as low-value residues, can indeed be regarded as a valuable resource for the sustainable implementation of second-generation biorefineries for the production of both bioenergy and high-value bioproducts. In this view, this thesis aims to valorise the HBRs together with another organic waste such as cheese whey to produce single cell protein (SCP), configuring an alternative and reliable solution that safeguard future food supply while minimizing the impact on global sustainability.
