Abstract

Since about the early 2000’s years, the majority of the industrial fields are undergoing deep transformations. These transformations are the results of the process of electrification and hybridization. Fluid Power applications are one of the most impacted categories by these changes. In fact, the implementation of quieter electric drives made more relevant the noise emissions from the hydraulic units. External Gear Pumps (EGPs) are a typologies of displacement machines widely used for energy transmission in fluid power systems and generally characterized by relative high levels of emitted noise and vibrations. Main objective of this Ph.D. thesis is the development of a tool based on numerical modeling that permits to analyze, design and optimize EGPs, with the main focus being the reduction of vibrations and noise emission phenomenon.
