Abstract
SARS-CoV-2 is now recognised as an enteric pathogen capable of inducing secretory diarrhea. Spike protein, which acts like an enterotoxin, triggers chloride secretion within the intestinal lumen and an increase in reactive oxygen species (ROS), similarly to the Rotavirus NSP4 protein. Previous in-vitro and in vivo studies have demonstrated the efficacy of strain-specific postbiotic preparations in reducing the intensity and duration of Rotavirus-related diarrhoea. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of different postbiotic preparations derived from living microorganisms] in preventing Spike-induced chloride secretion and oxidative stress in human intestinal cells.
