Abstract

The present PhD thesis is a collection of selected papers I worked on during my four-year PhD program at the Scuola Superiore Meridionale. The common theme of the problems is the Robin boundary condition and its application in the study of thermal insulation. From a mathematical point of view, all the problems we will consider are two-phase shape optimisation problems, where one phase, Ω, is usually fixed and represents the conductor and the other one, Σ, which will vary, represents the insulator surrounding it. This thesis aims to present the various results in an organic and unified manner.
