Abstract

This thesis examines three key diseases, infective endocarditis (IE), aortic stenosis, and aortic regurgitation, focusing on the use of echocardiography and its gaps in diagnosis, risk stratification, and prognosis. Early diagnosis is crucial for all. IE is difficult to diagnose and requires early suspicion, rapid echocardiographic screening, and prompt treatment decisions to optimize outcomes. Aortic stenosis and regurgitation highlight the need for early detection of subclinical myocardial changes to enable timely surgery before irreversible damage occurs. This PhD thesis aims to explore how echocardiography can be apply for diagnosis, and staging; how it can be used more effectively in screening; which traditional parameters can better distinguish the severity of the valve disease; how it can be integrated with other cardiovascular imaging tools and diagnostic procedures for better diagnosis, and ultimately, how advanced echocardiography tools can be applied and optimized in the context of valve diseases.
