Abstract
[ENGLISH] “Looking towards the future” is about a group of young medical students, who as well as their other different subjects, also study English. Also through English language teaching, it is possible to speak about peace and to encourage respect for life. In particular, it is possible to encourage students to focus their attention on people who suffer, who much more than others, need to be listened to and to be helped in order to overcome the feelings of neglect and discouragement in which they often find themselves. This is all the more true for all those students who are already working alongside the sick. It is essential that their job doesn’t only develop as an expression of good will, but firstly contributes to changing their personal relationship with people who suffer, transforming their relationships with patients, helping them to be "close to their patients" at all times, as a human presence which accompanies them during their stay in hospital. / [ITALIANO] “Uno sguardo in avanti„ riguarda un gruppo di giovani studenti di medicina, i quali, tra le diverse discipline, studiano anche la lingua Inglese. Anche attraverso l’insegnamento della lingua Inglese è possibile parlare di pace ed infondere il rispetto per la vita. In particolare è possibile invitare gli studenti a porre maggiore attenzione alle persone che soffrono, le quali più degli altri hanno bisogno di essere ascoltate ed aiutate a superare il senso di abbandono e sconforto in cui spesso si ritrovano.Ciò vale maggiormente per tutti quegli studenti che già svolgono un lavoro al fianco di ammalati. E’ necessario che il loro lavoro non si esaurisca solo in un’espressione di buona volontà, ma contribuisca innanzitutto a cambiare il loro rapporto personale con la sofferenza, trasformi le loro relazioni con le persone ammalate, aiuti loro a stare "presso il malato" in modo continuato, come presenza che accompagna.
