Abstract
The numerous relaciones of the flood that submerged the city of Salamanca on January 26, 1626 (San Policarpo Day) constitute a notable case study to investigate the correspondence between the editorial genre of relaciones and their varied textual typologies. The typical sedimentation of the narrative materials of the relaciones means that all the different editions refer to a single, shared story, spread from mouths to ears, through official and private communications, handwritten or printed. The purpose of this work is, first of all, to find out how heterogeneous rhetorical, stylistic and narrative structures represent this same shared story; second, to expose how these structures interpret the informational function of relaciones in different ways, linked to other news or literary genres.
