Collection description

Psychrophiles are microorganisms able to colonize cold environments. Some of the adaptation strategies of Gram-negative bacteria involve the external layer (such as LPSs and CPSs). During this PhD project the lipopolysaccharides (LPSs) and the capsular polysaccharides (CPSs) from psychrophilic Gram-negative bacteria have been purified and characterized, to investigate both their role in cold-adaptation mechanisms and their biological activity.
