Collection description
We present a project devoted to a comprehensive study of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) and of the Bridge toward the Large Magellanic Cloud. We plan to use the VLT Survey Telescope (VST) to image 65 squared degrees on both targets to V˜24.5 with S/N˜10 in two years. These observations, in conjunction with HST and VLT data will allow us to study in detail the star formation history of the SMC and of the Bridge as well as (for the first time) the variable star populations of the latter object.
