Abstract

[Italiano]: Il Report di Ricerca, qui pubblicato in modalità open access per i tipi edito¬riali della DADI_PRESS, è dedicato alle attività culturali promosse all’interno dei Seminari Scientifico-Disciplinari del Dottorato di Ricerca in ‘Architettu¬ra, Disegno industriale e Beni cultu¬rali’. In particolare, dall’a.a. 2020/21 è partito un nuovo format e ciclo di se¬minari formativi di durata mensile, or¬ganizzato dai diversi Settori Scientifico Disciplinare afferenti al Dipartimento di Architettura e Disegno industriale dell’Ateneo vanvitelliano e con il com¬pito di individuare uno specifico tema di studio sul quale invitare docenti universitari a intervenire con le pro¬prie esperienze. L’inizio di questa nuova avventura scientifico-formativa è stato affida¬to al Settore Scientifico Disciplinare ICAR/17 Disegno che, attorno al tema Nuove frontiere nel Disegno | New frontiers in Drawing (proposto e curato da Ornella Zerlenga e Alessandra Ci¬rafici per l’a.a. 2021/22), ha stimolato dottorande e dottorandi di ricerca per sei incontri settimanali, dal 2 marzo al 7 aprile 2022. Per introdurre e so-stenere il tema delle ‘nuove frontiere’ nell’ambito disciplinare del Disegno, l’evento di apertura e di conclusione del seminario è stato simbolicamente veicolato dall’allusione al concetto di ‘frontiera’, riferendosi a due citazioni autorevoli quanto significative: la pri¬ma, tratta dal romanzo Paula (1995) della scrittrice cilena Isabel Allende, “C’è un momento in cui il viaggio ini¬ziato non può essere interrotto, corriamo verso una frontiera, passiamo attraverso una porta misteriosa e ci svegliamo dall’altra parte, in un’altra vita”; la seconda, da Memorie di Adria¬no (1951) della scrittrice franco-belga Marguerite Yourcenar, “Cerchiamo d’entrare nella morte ad occhi aper¬ti...”. Entrambe le citazioni non passa¬no di certo inosservate, anzi, pertur¬bano l’animo portando a riflettere su un aspetto cruciale del ‘sentire’ uma¬no (e non): il limite come incognito da superare. Tuttavia, l’intenzione delle curatrici non è stata quella di inter¬pretare l’idea di ‘frontiera’ come di una ‘linea di confine’ percepita come de¬marcazione invalicabile ma piuttosto come di linea che può essere sposta¬ta in avanti verso territori non ancora ‘colonizzati’ del tutto. In fondo, come l’esperienza della morte, una frontiera che da vivi spaventa e che, chissà, for¬se superandola condurrà a un nuovo modo di essere e di avvertire. Così intese, le ‘nuove frontiere’ rappre¬sentano opportunità che si prospetta¬no all’attualità o in futuro nei processi di pensiero disciplinare, sia esso teori¬co che applicato. In tal senso, gli ospiti intervenuti sono stati invitati a riflette¬re sul concetto di ‘frontiera’ calandolo nell’ambito delle proprie linee di ricer¬ca, ben note nel panorama disciplinare nazionale e transdisciplinare./[English]: The Research Report, published here in open access for the publications of DADI_Press, is dedicated to the cultural activities promoted within the Scientific-Disciplinary Seminars of the PhD in ‘Architecture, Industrial Design and Cultural Heritage’. Since the a.y. 2020/21, a new format and cycle of monthly training seminars has started, organized by the various Scientific Disciplinary Sectors belonging to the Department of Architecture and Industrial Design of the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli, with the task of identifying a specific study topic on which to invite the university’s professors to contribute their own experiences. The beginning of this new scientific-educational adventure was entrusted to the Scientific Disciplinary Sector ICAR/17 Drawing which, around the theme New Frontiers in Drawing (proposed and curated by Ornella Zerlenga and Alessandra Cirafici for the 2021/22 academic year), stimulated PhD students for six weekly meetings, from 2 March to 7 April 2022. To introduce and support the theme of the ‘new frontiers’ in the disciplinary field of Drawing, the opening and closing events of the seminars were symbolically conveyed by the allusion to the concept of ‘frontier’, referring to two authoritative and significant quotations: the first comes from the novel Paula (1995) by the Chilean writer Isabel Allende, “There is a moment in which the journey begun cannot be interrupted, we run towards a border, we pass through a mysterious door and we wake up on the other side, in another life”; the second, from Memoirs of Hadrian (1951) by the French-Belgian writer Marguerite Yourcenar, “Let’s try to enter death with open eyes...”. Both quotations do not go unnoticed. On the contrary, they disturb the soul leading to a reflection on a crucial aspect of human (and non-human) ‘feeling’: the limit as an unknown to be overcome. However, the intention of the curators was not to interpret the idea of ‘frontier’ as a ‘boundary line’ perceived as an insurmountable demarcation but rather as a line that can be moved forward towards territories that have not yet been ‘colonized’ altogether. After all, like the experience of death, a frontier that frightens you when you are alive and which, who knows, perhaps overcoming it will lead to a new way of being and experiencing. Understood in this way, the ‘new frontiers’ represent opportunities that present themselves or in the future in disciplinary thought processes, both theoretical and applied. In this sense, the guests who attended were invited to reflect on the concept of ‘frontier’ by placing it within their own research lines, well-known in the national and transdisciplinary disciplinary landscape.
