Abstract
I focused on the study of three Bacillus species, B. subtilis, B. megaterium (recently renamed Priesta megaterium) and the opportunistic pathogen B. cereus. The physiology of these three species differs, but a common feature is the ability to sporulate and differentiating into high resistant spores. In view of the above, this thesis is organized in 5 chapters: CHAPTER 1 presents an introduction on spore-forming bacteria; CHAPTER 2 and CHAPTER 3 focus on the role of the coat component CotG in the spore coat of B. subtilis; CHAPTER 4 focuses on the use of the B. megaterium spore as an oral vaccine delivery system for aquaculture and CHAPTER 5 focuses on the role of the growth temperature on B. cereus physiology and sporulation.
